Magic Sunday

Today I am doing one of my fave link up with  Magic moments  . I think it does the heart good to think of those magic times that you have had. The older you get the more of these memories you treasure in your heart.
This week was special as my new grandson Nathan made his first visit to my house. I always love to see my children and there partners as I love them all. We all live busy lives so the chance to sit down to eat together is rare.

We had such a lovely chilled meal. I really enjoyed the relaxed time with my darling family.
So thank you Kevin, Matthew, Karen, Nathan, Natalie and Ian
love you loads xxx

Razor Red Review

My husband loves to cook and I love to bake and craft in general. So I think you can imagine our knifes and scissors take a lot of wear and tear. I have had other devices to help keep them sharp but they have always been really heavy or big.
So this week I got to try out a really neat little sharpener. The Razor Red is tiny at 6cm x6cm so its great for any kitchen no matter how small.
Very easy to fix to your work surface as it has a power grip suction base. Its really strong one the suction is engaged and I was surprised at how much grip there was. You can sharpen knifes, scissors, blades and serrated knifes so making it a great all rounder.
It only took seconds to get my knife and scissors really sharp and very clean as well.
I think it would make a great gift for any clean cook or crafter. Would also be good for camping as its so tiny and light. All in all I was impressed and think every kitchen should have one.

You can buy it over at

Ozeri Green Earth Pan Review

I am always trying to lose weight and it has become the story of my life. I hate cooking but my hubbie loves it, so when we got the chance to try out a new frying pan we jumped at it. The Ozeri Green Earth Pan is such a handy little item to have in your kitchen. Lovely bright green it is nice to look at as well as practical. Nice and small but not too small its great for omelette's or pancakes.

You only need a tiny amount of oil in the pan and believe me nothing sticks at all. Very easy to clean as well. Its got a nice weight but no so heavy it is hard to cook with. I think it is very good value for money and works well with my other Ozeri pan I already have.
Would be a great addition to any kitchen.
You can buy the pan over at

Last summer

On the television in the UK these past few weeks has been a show called "My last summer". It follows a group of five people who are all terminally ill . Now I know most of you would say that was not good viewing but I beg to differ. It was so lovely to see how the group bonded and shared their views and feelings about dying.
In 1982 my dear Mum was diagnosed with cancer. At this time it was fight fight fight and her losing her battle was not an option. I found it very hard as I was so close to her and I had a young baby who needed my time.
I was worried for my mum but also trying to give my young son my attention as well. Stress levels were high. I felt so sad but guilty about my feelings as well. I wanted my life back! I did not want to worry at all and I really found the stress difficult. How dare I feel sad or angry my life had been messed with, how selfish was I!
As time went on we hoped she had been cured but then she started to get worse. When my daughter was small in around 1987 she was told she had a year to live. My heart stopped and the world moved in slow motion for me. She was so sick and even though she loved my children she would cry that she could not hold them.
You feel as if you are on a huge high cliff and about to jump off . The fear of the unknown is constantly there.
I needed to talk to someone but there was no one at all. I felt sad and guilty and every other emotion in the book.
Mun proved them wrong at first and that year went into five in total. At the end of those five years she lost her life on Mothers day. I was heart broken as I had lost my heart , my life , my everything. I had to go on as I had two young children who needed me but it was hard.

You would think this documentary series would be morbid and sad but it was far from that. It was happy and sad and very thought provoking. Yes you were sad for the people and their families but also privileged to have been part of their story. I think it is brave to be able to face the issues they and their family faced and I understand those issue so much. No one wants to think about dying but it is something that is going to happen to us all. Yes it brought up my feelings about my mother but also good times with her. Well done to everyone who was involved with Channel 4 's "My Last Summer" it was an excellent insight to people living with a terminal illness. I hope all involved had peace and the sun went down on their world with charm and peace.

Ozeri Cardio Tech Pro Series Blood Pressure Monitor

Once again I was lucky to be asked to try out another great product from Ozeri recently. The Ozeri blood pressure monitor arrived and I was surprised at how neat and small it was. Very simple to set up , just slip in the provided battery and away you go.

The unit is amazing as it it totally voice activated and talks you through it stage.Place it on your wrist and get started .

It lets you know if your arm is in the right position and then it starts. When its finished it tells you your blood pressure and pulse and what level it is. It really is so simple to use and would be great if you had sight issues and not able to read another monitor. Really small and neat so easy to store as well which has got to be great. I think it is a excellent product and great value for money. Also a very helpful and friendly company if you need any help with your item.
You can find it over at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ozeri-BP5K-Voice-Guided-Intelligent-Hypertension/dp/B00DCD3E6E/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403775994&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=ozeri+voice+activated+blood+pressure+monitor

Wallstickers Review

It was a great day in the jolly household! We were lucky to get a chance to try a great idea from
www.wallstickers.co.uk with their wonderful range of wall stickers. There was a huge choice and it made it very hard knowing which one to go for. I wanted a verse that meant something to me. Also one that I thought would be difficult to get on so I could review honestly.
My review got a little delayed but when I got back from holiday it was waiting for me to get going.
It also came with full instructions and a link to a very useful you tube video. We took time to watch this as we wanted to get it right first time.

I was a little concerned once it came out of the tube as it was very creased and I didn't think it would ever lie flat.

My husband took the time to make sure the wall was clean first and dust free. We followed the instructions to the letter, and in general it really was easy. Once the carrier sheet is removed you just offer it up to your wall and using a credit card or any other bit of plastic, very carefully rubbed over each letter one at a time. Its not a good to rush.
I have to say it went up with ease! Its a lovely Sharp cut and I loved the colour as well. Best part if I get bored I can heat it up with a hairdryer and take it off with ease.
I am going to get another for my stairs as I think they really lift a room.

So go and look today and get one they really change the look of a boring plain wall. Easy to put up and take down.

My Kitchen story

This week I was lucky to get to try out the new Fairy Platinum did washer tablets. These were great in my new dishwasher in my new kitchen!
My kitchen had been a sad area, unloved and messy I had to put yellow crime scene tape across the door if I had guests. I used to dread having any body to visit waiting for the time they said " let me put my cup out in the kitchen for you"!!!!!!! Noooooooooo I would die with embarrassment.

Then fate stepped in and my husband got a chance to join forces with a friend called Danny, and enter a major cooking show. The show was on Sky 1 and it was called My Kitchen Rules. Both My husband Kevin and Dan had no professional training, just a couple of blokes who liked to cook. They both worked together in the fire service so found out from spending time at work that they liked to cook.
It was a really tough show and he was away filming for what seemed an age. Even missing our first wedding anniversary apart in 34 yrs !
So the end of this tail and to bring it back to my poor old kitchen! Well Kevin and Dan Won! They were the first ever winners of the UK my kitchen rules and won £25,000 between them. And I knew just what wee project was waiting lol.

I thought the pictures would tell the story of my lovely new kitchen. Kevin is a fantastic cook and I am a great baker so we are putting it to full use. We have just got a new grandson and I am hoping he will come and cook with us in the future.
The fairy Platinum tablets are great they really leave the dishes clean, and with all the cooking that goes on they get a proper workout.
So now I ask people to take their cups out just so I can show off lol.

Stand up and be counted !

Today I thought I would have a change and I saw a comment by my wonderful niece over at the The syders. This was about a new linky all about self confidence. Now I know all about lack of self confidence as its something I have had issues with all my life. I have had weight problems since I was five on and off. I have been very very slim and like now very over weight. This has totally effected my life and me as a person. I give the outward impression that I am confident , but under it all I am flapping my arms trying to stay afloat.

I have let lack of confidence totally stop me from doing so much with my life, and its a hard cycle to break.
Jayne over at mums the word is saying we should love our self and be confident in who we are.
So I am asking you to leave me a comment and two words which you think is about me (keep is nice lol)  that you can share. I hope you will also join me in a journey to live life to the full and not be hung up on lack of confidence.

Magic Moments in Norway

Today I am taking part in one of my favourite Link ups, that is Magic Moments which is over at The Oliver's Madhouse. I love this link up as it is so nice to sit on a Monday and think about a magic time you want to remember. The older I get ( and that seems to be fast these days) the more I seem to look back on those magic times.
This week my hub and myself have just returned from a cruise to Norway. We have never been on a cruise before , and we picked it because I have lots of mobility issues which make plane travel hard. I wanted to see Norway as I love that kind of scenery and landscape. I have been to Sweden and Denmark so Norway was the next on the list.
We left Southampton in bright sunshine and we were very happy to be getting a break from daily life.

The first two days I have to say were not magic lol. It was very foggy and nothing to see so we spent time around ship just relaxing and doing nothing really.
Our first port of call was a place called Alesund, on our way we passed the Island of Godya and Harfidlandet which was so beautiful. Once Oriana was secure in port , we were free to go ashore.
At first it was lovely and sunny but as often happens in Norway it quickly turned to rain. It was ok as it was still warm and not as cold as I thought it would be.  I was a little disappointed with Alesund as it was not as pretty as I expected, although it was in places.

We set sail again later that day in the Rain but the send off was fab. We all sat on the back decks and they played music and the tug boat had a fountain of water as we left the dock, great fun!
The next port of call was Tronheim which is another small place about a day sail from Alesund. Once again not much in the place and to reach shore you needed to board the tender boat. Being as I have issues with my walking, I thought it best not to attempt the tender and I let hub go ashore. I was very content to sit and read my book in the sun, and admire the view.

We then set off for the next place which was Leknes in the Lofoten Islands. This was 191 nautical miles from Tronheim and we had to also cross the Arctic circle, the temperature that evening was a chilly 7 degrees!
The place was beautiful with impressive mountains and fab scenery.

We had a day there and then set sail for the place that was the best for me. It took a whole day to sail there and we arrived around 6.30 am and yes I did get up on deck in time!!!!!! The place was called
Geiranger, which is entered by the stunningly fantastic Stornfjorden . I can't tell you how fantastic the place is. Huge mountains covered in snow, tumbling down to waterfalls and crystal clear water. Yes it was cold but hey the view made up for it big time.

I will always think of this place and how amazing it was, if you like taking pictures it would be your dream.
Later that day we set sail for our last port of call which was Bergan. The weather was great very warm and sunny. Bergan is reached by the Byfjorden with its stunning landscapes. Today I went ashore but it was very warm and sadly for us their were five cruise ships in that day. So it was like Central London in the school holidays and college and university holidays. In fact every holiday going lol. Lots of people and so so busy. After the peace of Geiranger it was a bit of a shock to the system. I have to say I did not last long the walking, heat and crowds had me back on ship fairly soon. My hubbie went back out but even he got beat by the crowds in the end. So we finished our day on the ship and had the best sail away ever.

I am worn out but we had some wonderful magic moments on the cruise. Norway is a such  beautiful place and I would love to go back and chill in one place one day!
