I do not have the best of health these days and have gained a lot of weight which stops me doing what I used to enjoy, keeping fit. I used to love to go to the gym or better still a great dance class. As those days seem to have gone I love to have a hobby. I love most craft and when my hubbie got me a cupcake class my passion for cakes grew and grew.
I have been very lucky to have done some classes with some wonderful people near home and far. My fave lady who is close to my home is Claire from Clairella Cakes. She is such a kind lady and I always learn so much , and have fun when I go on one of her course. She has also become a great friend.
When it comes to going further and international my all time fave has got to be David Macarfrae of David Cakes. I was lucky to do a class with him last year and my darling hubbie bought me two days with him for my birthday last week.
Plus it was with Karen and Alice Davies who make the greatest cake decorating moulds. It was exciting to be going to see David and his assistant Ed and also to work with Karen and Alice.
The weekend did not start so great as the journey should have took 4 1/2 hrs and took 8 1/2 due to traffic and road works , but we got there in the end.
It was so wonderful to see David and Ed again and I was excited to see what wonderful things we would get to make. Plus I think of them both as friends and its always special to see a friend.
So long story short I had the most wonderful time. I was totally exhausted and worn out but I had learnt so much. I had also met some lovely new cake friends and had lots of laughs as well.
Karen and Alice were great and it was so nice to be learn how to use the moulds and in how many ways they can be used.
It was also wonderful to royal ice again and to remember how much I enjoy it !
My cake turned out great and the fact that it turns around and around as well lol. I am saving the top for my granddaughters first birthday, I think she will love it.

DeleteI admire your patience for cake decorating. I love baking, but my cakes tend to look plain. I wish I had the skills to make them look as special as yours do.

DeleteI am always in the kitchen baking cakes but the decorating is usually a quick coating of icing before the kids get home and eat it all. I must say your cake looks amazing, I'm sure your granddaughter is going to love it. Popping in from Magic Moments.
