What do I write?

What do I write? I don't think I am alone in this thought. I am sure many a blogger or writer has sat and done the same.
When I first started blogging I had little to no idea what I should say. I was always worried that I would make mistakes, and in the early days I would ask my niece Emma who has an excellent blog for advice.
Over time my son said I should pick one subject and write about that, the subject being my craft. I love to do patchwork and paper craft, so he thought that would be good for me.
However, it seemed more important for me to learn my craft so to speak, and just write. I wanted to get down onto my blog what ever seemed right  in my mind.
I hoped that in time and I got better and improved my writing and skill would also improve.
At times I have wonderful ideas and the words flow out and I am racing to write them down. At other times I am back to the "What do I write" again.

Also , and I wonder if anyone shares this. I feel guilty if I have nothing to say , like I am letting someone down! I always wish I could write more and come up with some wonderful idea or profound meaningful words!
So after a year I am still writing, I enjoy it mostly and I think some people enjoy reading about my family life even if its boring at times.
I think I have thinks to share still, I have brought up two children and been married for 33 years so I have a few hints, tips and so on I am always willing to pass on.
I may still have to stop to saying "what do I write now" and just let it flow and hope a piece of inspired writing arrives on the screen.

May the blogger force be with you!

  1. I feel the same way sometimes! I have a "writer's" blog (shar-writes.blogspot.com) and sometimes I have no idea of what to write. However, when it comes to posting on my family blog, I never question anything, for the fact that it's all about my life + family. :)

    Have a great weekend!

    xoxo -Shar

  2. I'm the same, JollyJilly! In fact, I just had a bit of a rant on today's post, about the expectations of writer's on their blogs, as the pressure of not being "up to scratch" made me want to pack it all in!

Lets just write what makes us happy, on our own terms :)

  4. I found this Post interesting and this has been exactly what I have been thinking!! My blog will be up soon, and I go to bed at night thinking why do I write!!! I don't want to sound boring or ramble on or talk about something too much... The worries over a blog lol! But I live reading yours, like reading my own mind

    1. Thank you Emma. I think you should relax and write from your heart. If I can offer any advice you only have to ask

  5. Hopping over from "Welcome Wednesday" blog party. I am a new follower. I would appreciate the follow back.

I feel the same way. Sometimes I have too much to say and I have to edit myself to a reasonable paragraph and other times I feel as if nobody cares about my opinion so I never publicly post my thoughts.
