A to Z challenge F is for ......

A to Z Challenge F is for  Friendship star. This lovely block is super easy to make. Its a very old block patten which has been used for 100's of years. It was often made as a farewell quilt to friends or relatives. Many emigrated west and you never saw them again. You made a quilt to remind them of your love!
For me that is what quilts are all about!

  1. Love the story and meaning behind this pattern. It has movement, like a pinwheel, constantly turning.

  3. Hi, I am a quilter. I make my quilts on a sewing machine, putting them together as I go. I have made many quilts for babies, and several big ones for daughters, sons in law, and grandchildren. (and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews). It is so satisfying for me. I am taking time off from quilting for the challenge. Trying to blog-hop to all the blogs too. Regards to you, Ruby

  5. Love quilts! Texas' motto is the Friendship state so I love this. Most people think we are the Lone Star state, but that's a nick-name. We are the Friendship state, officially!

  6. I believe the history and culture behind quilting fascinates me as much as the quilts themselves.

  8. I have some antique quilts that I treasure, and I have modern quilts dear friends have made me. My boys have also been the recipients of those baby quilts where each friend makes one of the forty squares, with the letters of the alphabet, the numbers, the four basic shapes, and then in the center, a block with all the birth info. Have you see those? If not, and you're interested, let me know and I can send you some pictures. My email address is in my sidebar.
